Ethiopian Sapphire

Royal blue sapphire selected for velvety colour saturation and clarity, the hallmark qualities buyers look for in fine sapphire.

Selecting for Colour

Sapphire is judged first by colour: the depth, tone and saturation of blue determine value far more than size alone. We select stones for a velvety, evenly distributed blue rather than material that is simply dark or simply large, and we disclose treatment status on every stone, since heat treatment is standard and expected across the sapphire trade.

Rough or Cut

Sapphire rough is typically sent for cutting and polishing in Thailand, where our lapidary partners plan each cut around the crystal's natural colour zoning to maximise the finished stone's face-up colour. Rough material is also available for cutters and collectors who want to work a stone themselves — see our rough gemstones page.

Current sapphire stones in stock are listed on our Available Stones page.
